About Dr. Ben Green

Ben Green is a specialist Breast cancer surgeon and Endocrine surgeon (parathyroid & Thyroid Surgeon)

Ben as he would prefer to be called is originally from Tasmania where he completed his medical school at the University of Tasmania. He then moved to Canberra for his junior training before heading to Sydney and ultimately Brisbane for his advanced training in general surgery and Breast subspecialty fellowship training.

He commenced working as a specialist breast and Endocrine surgeon in 2013, initially working at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital. In 2020 ben focused on his Private career commencing at Specialist Services at St Andrews War Memorial Hospital

He has a special interest in Breast surgery, Thyroid Surgery and parathyroid surgery. Aiming to provide exceptional care with contemporary techniques in a multidisciplinary setting. Ben has had extensive training in Oncoplastic breast surgery where the aim is to maintain or improve the shape of a breast in the setting of breast cancer surgery. Also offering reconstructive options to women requiring mastectomy. Her also specialises in complex surgical conditions of the Thyroid and parathyroid glands including minimally invasive techniques.

Ben has a strong focus on education and teaching. He is a current councillor of BreastSurgANZ that works on maintaining standards on breast cancer care in Australia and new Zealand and providing education to Breast surgeons across both countries. Ben is the current co-chair of the breast surgical training in Australia and New Zealand and an examiner in general surgery.

Ben works in a highly skilled multidisciplinary team to provide the best care for patients with complex breast and endocrine conditions. He is a member of Australian and New Zealand Endocrine Surgeons society.

Ben has had an extensive history of work in maintaining standards of care in breast surgery. He is a current member of the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) Breast Implant working group focusing on breast implant safety in breast reconstruction. He is a member of the Queensland Cancer Control committee (QCCAT) that monitors patient outcomes and practices across Queensland.

Outside of work he spends his time driving his kids to numerous events as ‘Dads taxi’, out on the bay sailing or watching the Carlton Football club as a keen fan of Australian Rules Football and of Course the maroons in Rugby!
